Who is this child?

Ruby has always been a one of a kind kid. You will never meet another kid like her. She talked crystal clear from before a year old. She has craved attention her whole life as a result of getting extra attention at the beginning. She thinks like her dad, if you know him then this makes sense. "Outside the box" might be a good explanation of it. She challenged me in her toddler years because she is the most determined and opinionated little squirt I know. She was the only one at her preschool graduation that absolutely would not wear her cap. Even yesterday she came home from school with a hat that had 10 little strips of paper sticking straight up off it. Come to find out that every other child in the class stapled the strips together to make them loop across the top. Not Ruby, she wants it the way she wants it. And the great part is, she does not allow other peoples opinions to alter hers. I hope she stays this way. I always said that if we can just make sure she wants to choose the right, her determination will do wonders for her as she grows up. She is a good kid. She has occasional melt downs of tiredness after school, but she truly most of the time wants to be good. A few months ago she tried on Dave's glasses and informed us that she could see better with them on. A trip to the eye doctor and here she is (even though the Dr thought she was faking it just so she could get glasses). She is young for her grade and small for her grade. She is one of the only kids in the class that had not lost a tooth as of yesterday. Glasses and losing a tooth all in one week and I don't even recognize this eldest child of mine.

oh sally! This is amazing! Ruby looks adorable in her glasses. I love that she knows who she is and what she wants. She will for sure do great things and be an example for those she surrounds. Love it.

she definitely looks different and older. the pink, skirted, princess, hair down ruby is gone. i ran into some jeans + glasses wearing, princess hating, hair in a bun girl who was telling me how pink "just isn't her thing" anymore
